Virginia Institute of Autism

“As a school that has prided itself on providing the very best education and treatment for our students, the Virginia Institute of Autism interviewed a number of contractors before deciding to work with Bill and High Caliber Construction. Our situation was unique in that we serve students who may be particularly vulnerable to lead and sensory stimuli. As a result, Bill’s attention to detail during the lead abatement process and his skilled and thorough subs helped to ensure the renovations occurred with minimal disruption. Given the school serves students year-round, Bill and his team had a very tight timeframe to complete the work yet finished ahead of schedule and on budget. Bill’s professionalism allowed us to do what we do best – serve our students and not worry about the renovation process. I would highly recommend High Caliber Construction” — Dr. Ethan Long, Executive Director, The Virginia Institute of Autism

Lead Abatement Renovation Project
Charlottesville

This was a very intense and exacting project for High Caliber Construction.  We had to accomplish, with full lead abatement procedures in place, a remodeling project involving demo, rebuilding and extensive painting for the 3 buildings that make up The Virginia Institute of Autism in Charlottesville, Virginia.  High Caliber Construction is EPA certified in lead abatement construction, a skill which most often would come into play for us when renovating historic homes.

We had a 16-day renovation period during which the students and most of the staff were on vacation.  We had promised delivery of the 2 buildings which had demo involved but building #3, which was just to be painted, might have to wait for evenings and weekends once the students had returned.  With the help and full cooperation of key staff members, High Caliber and its crews were able to complete the entire project in the 16-day window; Kimberly Gale of “In Design” provided the interior design concept and was amazingly efficient at getting all the new furniture and design elements in place.  When the students returned, all class and activity rooms had been completed; no one was left out.

I must admit that the positive reactions of the students, their parents and returning staff made this one of the most satisfying projects High Caliber has ever been involved in.
