Custom Design-Build Home

This home was a Design/Build in conjunction with a local architect; Bill Ware, the architect and the clients teamed up during the design phase. The process started with a gorgeous cul-de-sac view lot and a 2-story stock plan with a main floor layout which Mark and Elaine liked and evolved into a custom single story with a full finished Terrace Level (basement; when High Caliber finishes your basement, it becomes a “Terrace Level”).
The all-brick exterior features engineered brick, quoin corners and a 50-year architectural roof; extensive landscaping and beautiful retaining walls frame this retirement home which takes full advantage of spectacular Blue Ridge Mountain views. As you step inside, the view through the Foyer and into the Great Room is of mountains and sky as the custom windows in the cathedral dormer gather in the majestic view. In the Great Room and Home Office are extensive built-ins custom made by High Caliber’s very talented trim team; just outside the Great Room is a Trex Deck which leads to a Screened Porch where our clients take full advantage of the moderate year-round weather the Charlottesville area has to offer.
Inside, the #1 red oak floors to the left lead to the Master Suite with its roomy Master Bath featuring a 4′ X 6′ tiled shower, 6′ Jacuzzi & dual Cherry vanity and the expansive Master Bedroom with its boxed trey ceilings and sitting area bay featuring mountain views. To the right from the Foyer is the Dining Room framed with 2 arches and extended by another bay; further down the hall are the Laundry Room and the 4-car garage (courtyard loaded 3-bay and another bay rear loaded). The Kitchen, which is just off the Great Room, features Cherry cabinets and Corian countertops as well as a walk-in pantry; adjacent to the Kitchen is the Breakfast Area, much more than a “nook” as it is big enough to handle the kids when they are in town.
The wide open inviting staircase to the Terrace Level is just off the hallway to the Garage and leads to a place that is a world unto itself-3 Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths, Wet Bar and Rec Room round out a design that is comfortable living for 2 on the Main Floor and ample room for visiting family and friends at the Terrace Level.
