“My husband Charlie and I just finished a major addition with Bill Ware of High Caliber Construction to our home on Rose Hill Drive.
The project was challenging (our neighbor said High Caliber was building a ship in a bottle) because of the narrowness of our lot and the sequencing of events, from the building of a magnificent stone wall to the foundation of the addition itself , was done during a time of difficult weather conditions. Despite this, the project arrived before our new baby and was on budget.
Sherri Tracinski, who is both an Architect and an Architectural Historian, drew up the plans with input from Charlie, myself and Bill; it was a very good team. Both Bill and Sherri were available and attentive during the entire project and Sherri was very helpful in assisting us with the selection of paint colors, lighting & plumbing fixtures and even interior décor items such as window treatments.

Custom Design-Build Major Addition

The team of Bill Ware of High Caliber Construction and Architect Sherri Tracinski, along with considerable input from clients Charlie & Kelly, came up with the design for a Master Suite addition to this very nice Cape in a great location near Downtown Charlottesville.
Going with the clients’ vision for an addition which would blend into their wild and wonderful wooded back yard, the design evolved with a natural cedar exterior surrounded by a mahogany Deck and expansive Screened Porch. Modifications to the existing home allowed for a natural flow into the new Master Suite. Hardwood floors were installed and stained to match the existing floors, wall colors were changed to brighten the existing main floor and to tie in with the new addition.
The addition itself included a Master Bedroom with a cathedral ceiling and a rear window wall which, with its double French doors and transom, truly brings the outside “in”. Also included were a Laundry Room, 2 Walk-in Closets and a positively elegant Master Bath; the Bath features a spectacular tiled shower for 2 (modeled after the clients’ experience at The Inn at Little Washington), a dual vanity and a whirlpool tub nestled into place by a continuation of the tile scheme from the shower.
Outside, High Caliber added a new stone retaining wall at a 90 degree angle to an existing stone wall; the outstanding result was achieved when Sherri found just the right stone, moss and all, to blend in with the existing wall.
